Tired of Being Tired


Do you find yourself asking "Why am I so tired?", or always in need of another cup of coffee.

There are many reasons why fatigue may present, here are some of them:

1. Anemia:

Is the lack of Red blood Cells or Hemoglobin in blood. RBC bind to oxygen and delivered it to the body cells. When there is anemia, not enough oxygen gets to the cells causing fatigue and other symptoms and signs.

2. Thyroid disorders:

The thyroid is in charge of producing Thyroid hormones, which play a very important role in our metabolism. If there is too much thyroid hormone production, it is called Hyperthyroidism, if the thyroid slows down is called Hypothyroidism.

In Hyperthyroidism, there is muscle fatigue and weakness, and in Hypothyroidism, you feel sleepy, tired and have difficulty concentrating.

3. Sleep disorder:

There are different kinds of sleep disorders, depending on which phase of the sleep is affected. You might have difficulty falling asleep or might wake up in the middle of the night. Can be caused by an obstructive problem as in Sleep apnea or by a mood disorder as in Depression.

4. Adrenal Fatigue:

Adrenal fatigue is a collection of signs of symptoms, that occurs when the Adrenal gland function slows down. This happens mostly during intense or prolonged stress periods, or after infections. The Adrenal gland sits over each Kidney and is the responsible for the production of different hormones.

5. Depression:

Depression is a major illness that would affect not only our mood but also our sleep, appetite, memory and concentration.

It may cause fatigue as a result of lack of sleep, or and nutritional deficit.

6. Diabetes:

Glucose (sugar), is what our body use as fuel to keep going. In Diabetes, glucose cannot be used properly and therefore our cells run out of "fuel". Fatigue is just one of many symptoms that Diabetes may cause. Diabetes can complicate easily and cause serious problems to our organism.
